The Standby Lear, a play by John W. Lowell, delves into the psyche of an actor poised to step into a major role without cast rehearsal. It's the ultimate test of an actor's nerves, as we witness him rehearsing solo, only to face the daunting prospect of performing and the realization of neglecting personal commitments. Is he unraveling? With this event, Peter Galman, founder of Shakespeare Troupe, reunites with Patricia Wolf, his long-time partner both on and off stage, to share the spotlight again. Their chemistry, once described as "sparks flying," promises to captivate audiences anew. Guided by director and producer Jeremy Quinn, this staged reading transcends expectations, offering more than just a mere reading.

Shakespeare Lives! Mondays at Sol

Sharpen your acting skills with Peter Galman, a classically trained actor-director-producer and founder of the Shakespeare Troupe of South Florida, which staged Hamlet and Macbeth in 2024. Shakes Troupe is the premiere provider of Shakespearean content in South Florida, the only professional company offering year-round Shakespeare instruction and performance.
Each 3-hour workshop at the Sol Theatre on Federal Highway in Boca Raton includes a warm-up exploring your instrument while creating something you can take with you -- worth the price of admission in itself; and, exercising specific technique tips -- the "secrets" of playing Will's characters; before diving into script analysis and practice where you can master any speech, song or scene.
SPECIAL EXTRA! Buying a workshop package of at least 3 sessions offers you a one-on-one session with Peter for coaching and advice on material selection, audition preparation, and career management activities. A $100 Value.
Staged Readings also occur as part of the workshop on June 16 and 30. Taking a workshop does NOT guarantee casting. However, best efforts will be made to include participants in the readings.
Peter's acting career spans 60 years, including Broadway and everything else, training at New York's oldest drama school, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, graduate study with the renowned teacher Stella Adler, and a 10-year association with the Actors Shakespeare Company of New Jersey. He is devoting his white-headed years to seeing Shakespeare come alive in Florida.
